Beautiful Premium Road Bikes
El Dorado – The Premium Road Bike for Mountains
In the mountains, you need a road bike that is both lightweight and stiff for climbs, offers precise handling for winding descents, and provides excellent aerodynamics. Additionally, an extensive gear range is indispensable. With these specifications in mind, we developed our road bike for the mountains: the ultra-light climbing machine El Dorado. The El Dorado offers an exceptional combination of low weight, top-tier aerodynamics, and stylish design – all at an affordable price.
Optimized for Lightweight Performance
The most crucial aspect of developing our mountain road bike, El Dorado, was avoiding unnecessary weight. In its standard configuration, our mountain road bike weighs only 6,950 grams (excluding pedals, bottle cages, and equipped with an 11-30 cassette). Opting for the optional Dura-Ace group further reduces the weight to 6,750 grams.
Ultra-lightweight Wheels:
The El Dorado features an ultra-lightweight wheelset, custom-designed with high-quality components specifically for this model. These include ultralight 35-mm carbon rims, 18/20 Sapim CX Ray spokes with internal nipples, and a lightweight hub with ceramic bearings. This wheelset is not only light and offers exceptional acceleration on steep climbs, but it also boasts minimal air resistance. Lightweight and Powerful Rim Brakes:
You might wonder if you read that correctly: does the El Dorado indeed have rim brakes? Yes, it does. We equip our mountain road bike with rim brakes. Why? For one, rim brakes – at least in dry conditions – perform just as well as disc brakes. However, another feature is crucial here: rim brakes provide an additional weight advantage.
Effortlessly Through Mountains and Valleys with Minimal Air Resistance
All components of the El Dorado are not only exceptionally lightweight and durable but also designed for efficient power transfer.
Aerodynamics:
The El Dorado offers excellent aerodynamic properties. The frame, fork, seat post, and seat stays feature a flattened aero design, reducing air resistance – a feature you’ll appreciate on descents and when conserving energy on flat sections. Additionally, the rim brakes allow for radial lacing without crossings. This design is not only aerodynamic but also visually appealing. Learn more about aerodynamics in our blog post: Aerodynamics in Road Cycling.
Drivetrain and Gearing:
Equipped with Shimano’s Ultegra 2x12-speed Di2 group, the El Dorado offers more than enough gear range for steep climbs and high-speed descents. Of course, we tailor the chainrings, cassettes, and crank lengths to your preferences.
Road Bike for the Mountains in Stylish Design
The gold/black color combination gives the El Dorado a luxurious overall appearance. However, you can also customize it in your favorite colors. You also have the freedom to choose the components.
Even the smallest details such as cable housing, quick release levers and screws for the bottle cages are in line with the color scheme.
With all Vélobsessive bikes, you have the option to customize the design. For example, you can tailor bolt colors, handlebar tape, or lettering colors to your preferences. You also have the option, in collaboration with a painting company, to design the frame entirely according to your wishes.
Optimal Efficiency: Includes Custom Bike Fitting
The El Dorado is built with all the technical features needed for maximum climbing enjoyment – making it an excellent choice. However, the El Dorado provides an additional, invaluable advantage: we offer free bike fitting to tailor your mountain road bike to your exact measurements and preferences.
At our Neerach studio (near Zurich), you’ll first undergo a laser measurement from head to toe. Next, we use a bike fitting simulator to fine-tune the measurements for your mountain bike to the millimeter – from the optimal frame size to handlebar and stem dimensions, and the exact configuration of the crank, cassette, and more.
Find detailed information about our bike fitting here.
After the extensive consultation and fitting, we hand-assemble the ideal components for you in our bike workshop.
