Aerodynamics: The Vélobsessive Purple Air is built for maximum aerodynamics. With a highly streamlined carbon frame, ultra-fast aero wheels made of carbon, fully integrated cable routing in the handlebars, and numerous other details, the Purple Air is barely affected by crosswinds. You’ll be amazed by its incredible speed and low rolling resistance.
Time Trial Position: Handlebars, extensions, stem, spacers, drivetrain, crank… every component of the Purple Air can be adjusted to your exact physical needs—minimizing drag and maximizing power output.
Efficiency: In triathlon and time trials, every unnecessary gram is a gram too many. That’s why the Purple Air features an exceptionally lightweight carbon frame - light enough for agility but stiff enough to ensure no energy is wasted. Ultra-light carbon wheels, seat posts, and handlebars provide additional weight savings.
Drivetrain: The Shimano Di2 electronic shifting system ensures optimal power transfer to the road. With its synchronized shifting configuration, you don’t have to worry about front derailleur adjustments - just click “up” or “down,” and the system automatically selects the best gear for you.
Triathlon Bike Purple Air with Free Bike Fitting for Triathletes
Vélobsessive offers two bike fitting services tailored to triathletes: Bike Fitting TRI and Bike Fitting TRI Pro. The Bike Fitting TRI is included in the purchase price of the Purple Air. The Pro package is priced based on its scope.
Bike Fitting TRI
The Bike Fitting TRI is designed for ambitious recreational and amateur triathletes. It focuses on optimizing your aero position, including configuring the cockpit with handlebar extensions, spacer heights, reach, angles, and armrest settings. It also includes finding the right saddle position and selecting the optimal crank length. The “Bike Fitting TRI” is based on dynamic fitting services and includes testing the position on a simulator under movement and load.
On the Podium with the Vélobsessive Purple Air
Shortly after picking up his new time trial bike, the Purple Air, Bernd John won his first individual time trial. The 72-year-old runner-up at the 2022 World Championships for individual time trials secured victory over 22 km with an average speed of 41 km/h. Additionally, Bernd [year] became state champion of Rhineland-Palatinate (a German federal state) in the Masters 4 category (60+ years) riding his Vélobsessive Purple Air.
